Which invention was a big mistake for humanity?

Probably many inventions have proven to be mistakes, or have become warped to wrong ends.

The obvious mistakes of course are chemical, biological and nuclear weapons; but unfortunately humanity has been scrapping with itself for millennia, over land, beliefs, resources or merely to suit tyrants' vanity.
