What should define us?

We are having a debate in the office as to whether race or culture should be the primary defining characteristic for people. I believe that culture has more to do with it, as the majority of people on the planet are of “beige” colouration and the word “Black” is a misnomer defined by a Latin term, “negro” which someone in antiquity used to describe African and some South American and Micronesian peoples, erroneously.

I think we are defined by experiences. Race is a poor and lazy definition. Culture is better. Expose two people of same race to two different cultures and they will have different views. Travelling is a great way to learn about other cultures. More varied your experiences and more open minded and empathetic you will be
