Porch Pirates!

So recently I had entered into contests online, and was super lucky to win a Paw Hutch Rabbit Cage
Anyways earlier today I saw a group of teenagers walking down the street, the boy in the group bragged about being a porch pirate and that it was a rabbit cage....I heard him!!!! Then some time passed and I had made a sign on my front door to use the other door on our house. The front door has no privacy it's open to the whole neighborhood for all to see if a package is on our front door step big or small anyone could steal it!!! Foolish of the delivery person to leave it out in the open like that, they should know better to be more discreet! When I was outside posting up the sign the same group of teenagers were comming back, I asked them if they knew of any porch pirates and they were like no no she heard youuuu then I said I would like it back its a birthday gift for my dad...Anyways it was just a contest win, it's not like I am out of any money or anything, but I did reach out to the person who told me I won and all, my question is should I have reached out to the company who offered my prize or should I count my losses....I was going to gift it to my dad, he raises chickens, sometimes if a chicken gets hurt the other chickens gain up on it and he wanted the cage to isolate the injured chicken, but now there is no cage and my dad is too broke to buy one and so am I. It just sucks all around...I did feel the hand of the Lord on me, maybe God was trying to comfort me...I'm trying to forgive them.
Forgiving people sends them the message that they can run amok without any consequences.

@MsSwan I don't know who he is or where he lives. He is best described as a tall chubby teenager with shaggy brown hair, walking with a group of 3 girls. First walking West down the street when he was bragging about being a porch pirate and that it was a rabbit cage and then heading East when I confronted him. And they were like no no she heard youuu!
It doesn't matter if it was free or not. A crime was committed.

Sorry that happened. Probably worth reporting it to the police and giving a description. You're not the first and probably not the last. Your information might help catch them.
What they did was wrong. It shows what kind of upbringing they had. Shows the parents had ill regard for how to raise them. Too bad about that
Sorry to hear this one, forgiving them means your heart is in the right place.
