Requiring passing an exam on basic logic before being granted the right to vote.

@katydidnt Do you mean premise conclusion arguements, logical fallices like strawmanning, what a stipulation is and what evidence is vs anecdotal personal perceptions? or what do you mean by that?
katydidnt · 61-69, F
@robertsnj I'm not qualified to design the exam, but for starters, avoidance of: circular reasoning; of ignoratio elenchi; of generalizations; of ad hominem; of "bandwagon reasoning". Things that expose one's weakness in thinking rationally and willingness to examine opposing sides of a debate.

@katydidnt i think i understand /you are focusing on logical fallacies
katydidnt · 61-69, F
@robertsnj Yes. I'm just wishing that voters could show they are at least capable of casting votes that reflected rational minds. I wish it were practical to test based on how well a person can avoid committing logical fallacies. It seems one's score would correlate well with their ability to vote "smart."

@katydidnt i appreciate you putting up with my follow up questions / I think logic 101 as a mandatory High School class would be a move in the right direction including local fallacies.

@robertsnj I very much agree. A class in logic can be fun as well.
