Lacing food with ghost pepper and laxitive to catch a food thief. Too far?

Sometimes, my coworkers at the hotel's front desk will store food in a shared mini fridge when they don't want to order from the restaurant or DoorDash. I've never used the mini fridge but a lot of my coworkers have been complaining about a food thief. Plenty of accusations, but no evidence(no cameras). So I made a small dish of pasta and mixed in a bunch of ghost pepper and laxative.
As you might imagine, our most insufferable coworker(constant complaining and hypocritical criticism) suddenly had to go home because of "some intense couching" and had to call out for "stomache problems" soon after. Btw, it was only a few hours after I put the food in the fridge she had to run home. Couldn't even wait a day. Our GM announced a few days later that while they will install a camera to watch the fridge so this "malicious attack" wont happen again. 😒

Did I go too far? I don't really regret it. But what do you think?

It’s a free country and you are allowed to season your food in any way you see fit. If someone thinks they can steal your food not knowing what’s in it that’s their problem. I don’t know how they can call it an attack when he was the one that stole your food. Maybe his sore ass will teach him not to steal other people’s food and to buy his own.
That's a little weird. And they won't even get the hint either. Who would think someone would do that? You wasted your time and that's mean.
