The degradation of humanity

Immediate gratification destroys one's heart, mind and soul. It is becoming the scourge of humanity. People today are glued to a mechanical device: the cell phone and or tablet/computer. These mechanical devices have become the new drug.

Most people today have to constantly be entertained and or amused. Many have the attention span of toddlers. People in general today do not take the time to empathize or sympathize with others. These people have totally become obsessed with existing rather than living. Everything is always one mouse click away. Paying attention to the important stuff in the world is becoming too burdensome for most people today.

Many human beings today do not pay attention to the big picture in life, often obsessing about irrelevant things. Posting photos of themselves makes them joyful, so this becomes a big part of their existence. These people need an affirmation from others to confirm that they are beautiful and cool. As the real world crumbles around them, it's on to the next selfie and or talking about something nonsensical such as a punch thrown at the Oscar's.

This constant obsession to feed one's own ego and to remain in perpetual bliss has lead to a thumbing down of the past couple of generations. Many impressionable young minds can no longer add, spell or even read more than a paragraph. Idiocracy and Ineptocracy have become reality. Google has become people's god and this basically results in brainwashing and indoctrination, a most dangerous combination.

In depth conversations are becoming obsolete, texting nonsense is replacing real human contact. No longer do people take the time to actually care. Emojis and memes are becoming the new way to communicate, human creativity has been replaced by fake computer enhanced entities. Writing at length and with depth is no longer considered a virtue but rather a burden to both the potential author and reader.

Humans are slowly giving up everything which makes them human. Choosing to constantly exist within a virtual world has real life consequences. It creates a generation of people who can no longer look people in the eye when speaking, it degrades human contact, along with deteriorating the basic social skills required to function in society and the ability hold a real job. When critical thinking and the use of logic are replaced by virtue signaling and confirmation bias, human beings lose the ability to think for themselves.

This dumbing down of society often leads to a population which basically becomes detached from reality. The absurd and the outrageous soon become readily accepted as norms. Voltaire once said "those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."

The erosion of basic freedoms and the ignorance of government monitoring and control becomes easier to accept by a society obsessed with convenience. Most people today find they are just too busy to preserve the freedom of those who came before them and who paid the ultimate price for their freedom.

When virtue signaling trumps our ability to recognize that the world around us is crumbling right before our very eyes, this becomes disturbing. Willful ignorance to the destruction of freedom of speech becomes dangerous. When we allow propaganda to replace truth, we become lost.

Lies and the repetition of lies are becoming common place. So called fast checkers are becoming nothing more than propagandists who confirm the lies or contradict the truth. This becomes very dangerous to a society whose attention span is becoming obsolete.

Peace of mind and living with purpose have now become replaced by immediate gratification and the contentment to exist within a world where being a phony trumps being real. When your soul is reduced to nothing, it becomes much easier to "sell it" on everyday basis to the highest bidder.

Dystopia is slowly but surely encompassing humanity. Nobody is paying attention to the invisible chains being placed on them and the virtual prisons being built around them. It's like the frog in the proverbial boiling pot of water. What seems comforting one minute all of sudden leads to sudden death. It's now becoming too late to react/rectify all the danger surrounding us a society.

We must be careful about what is taking place around us. Humanity can either start taking the time and effort required to to be human and live free or we can continue to slither away and become part of an apocalyptic existence. An existence where human beings will one day cease to exist. We must all choose wisely what our future will hold.

Now that is some truth, but even this, most won't read. Too busy with their brains buried in the shallow entertainment.

Even their so called "kindness" is just quotes and words tossed around on social sites. It isn't something that's actually lived. People nod and agree and then just go on with the next entertainment.
