If you are friendly with someone and you hear someone speaking rudely about her or him e.g. blaming her or him for something would u be honest & tell?

Or are you scared and or do not wanna make things worse and or upset her or him?

[b]what if the person asks you first about something which has something to do with what was being said?

I usually stay out of it. I have been hearing stuff like this ever since I was in high school. Seems to me that high school mentality is alive and well.
