Has honesty ever ruined a connection you had?

Dishonesty did.
@CookieCrumbs Dishonesty usually does. So much unneeded pain.
summersong · F
Tbh it’s rare that it doesn’t.
Coppercoil · M
Many.. honesty is a powerful thing.. and expressing it with a lack of sensitivity to where others are emotionally.. can make it a very destructive thing. Like a medicine.. too much too fast can do a great deal of harm.
@Coppercoil I appreciate your perspective. I often think of honesty delivered with harshness because the lies have gone on so long, but not how dizzying it could be to the other person.
Coppercoil · M
@BrokenAbyss i think the situation probably influences the methods and amount let loose at a given moment to a given person. Probably incredibly variable which road one should take.
@Coppercoil Hopefully with more acceptance even the low roads can be fixed
Yes, she abused every little thing she got to know that mattered to me.
@pillowprincess Ouch. I’ve felt that burn. It hits different when it’s with someone very close.
@BrokenAbyss
Most definitely. All I blame myself is giving her almost three years to do this to me.
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
Yes, several. I'm too open and honest at times.
@Turtlepower so I’ve been told as well.
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
@BrokenAbyss yup I'm always honest it's just who i am
@GeorgeTBH Same here. I figure if it ruins it then it needed to be ruined.
GeorgeTBH · 31-35, M
@BrokenAbyss that is very true if it build off a lie someone will always be hurt in the end
Carissimi · F
Absolutely, but also lies.
NewBeginnings7790 · 41-45, F
Probably. I tend to overshare
noexpectations1 · 41-45, M
Yup, and I didn't give a fuck
Pfuzylogic · M
if one isn’t trying to destroy the connection, honesty is the best way to go.
SW-User
No, lies are what always ruin everything
DDonde · 31-35, M
I wouldn't say ruined, but it generated tension
@DDonde Was is resolvable?
DDonde · 31-35, M
@DDonde That’s awesome I’m glad it worked out
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
Not a romantic one, but I've had to stop using Facebook as I was losing a lot of respect for family members with their honesty showing up in my feed.
@ViciDraco Lol social media is one jumbled up place
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@BrokenAbyss yeah, it really is. It's hard to see people you really expected fall for blatant propaganda lies or openly mock ideas and principles important to you. From another side, it really showed me the kind of ideological bubble the region I grew up was in. And it becomes amazing to see how insulated from the wider world those people are, how insulated i might have been had i not left home for school and work.
@ViciDraco I’m glad you got out, but indeed it’s difficult watching the hate and lie storm sweep up most everyone you know.
