Please be honest

Can someone with ptsd live a normal life? Can they live a healthy life? Are they prone to mental illness, obesity, heart issues and substance abuse and memory deficiency? Is it inevitable?

My experience with PTSD was something that no one knew or talked about when I had it.
It took about 4 or 5 years for it to finally fade to a degree that I could live without it being intrusive to my quality of life.
But now there is cognitive behavioral therapy which can be very helpful. Also like someone else mentioned there are types of medication that can be very helpful.
You're only real detriment is not seeking some form of help.
