I Like Helping People Less Fortunate

I like to help others. I do it willingly and without expecting anything in the end EXCEPT a thank you. I feel like I am blessed and I always want to return the blessing.

Nothing upsets me more than giving a gift or doing something nice and not receiving any acknowledgement. It shows a complete lack of gratitude. What is my response? I refuse to do anything again. Just plain and simple.

Let me give you a couple of examples. My boss’s daughter is helping with a charity in a very poor part of our state. I was able to buy 20 10.00 towels for her for .52 a piece. Great deal, right? Well they would not come and get them. I had to drive them to the office. They did not even acknowledge they picked them up. I was worried that someone would take them because I had loaded them in a big plastic garbage bag to keep them clean. I had to call and see If they even received them…then I received a thank you.

I send boxes to this little girl with clothing and gifts because her parents are drug users. I NEVER get a call. I have to call over and over to make sure the box didn’t mysteriously disappear. That just aggravates me to no end.

The sad thing is all that I ask for is a thank you..isn’t that sad? It costs nothing to be grateful, does it?

You've posted about the situation with the little girl's parents, so it's no surprise you received no acknowledgement of your gifts. While it would be nice to receive thanks for your generosity, take comfort in the fact that you know you are helping the less fortunate.

i have read that children's personalities form around the 3-5 age i believe. I want her to feel wanted, loved, special and beautiful...that brings me true joy!
