Gen x childhood was a little like survival training

I might be wrong, but I don't think very many young people today would have survived childhood in the 1980s
Neither our feelings nor our mental health were our parents first concern...

Not many young people would survive or make it in any decade before the 2000s. They would definitely be out of place and clueless on what to do during the Great Depression.
