Stop Generational Comparison

A lot of people compare generation now to their past generations, and I often hear people say "Back in my day, we didn't do this and we didn't do that"

I understand that there are things that people from past generations probably don't like about today's generation, but generational comparison is not going to change anything, or at least, not to everything that probably older generations expect. I'm not putting hate on anyone, but I'm just saying that generations change and there's nothing we can do about that

My question is, why do some people compare generations? Generations change, and there are things that happened in past generations that don't happen in today's generation. Please stop comparing generations because past generations is different from present generation

It's called generational pride. We all have it. You will understand it soon enough.

@MarkPaul opinion respected, but in this time, it feels like most people just compare generations to make people feel guilty. No hate

@JesusIsWithMe You can't feel guilty if you have nothing to feel guilty about. I often hear from older people how my generation is lazy, arrogant, and entitled. The thing is, I'm not lazy, I'm not arrogant, and I don't act entitled. So, I have nothing to feel guilty about in that regard. An older woman at work recently complained that "my generation" is always "in their phone." I do use my phone, but I am not always "in it." So, I don't have anything to feel guilty about that. Finally, I am personally often (OFTEN) told I have social anxiety when at most (AT MOST) I have a trace of social anxiety and if I do, I mask it pretty effectively. Tbh, that gets to me, but I don't really have anything to feel guilty about it. So, I try not to feel guilty.

So... don't allow people to "make" you feel guilty unless you enjoy feeling guilty. Maybe you do.

@MarkPaul who would enjoy that??

That's your opinion, and that's respected, but I'm just saying mine as well. No hate or anything @MarkPaul

@JesusIsWithMe Well, I think you might. That's all. It just seems like that based on the clues I picked up from what you wrote.

@JesusIsWithMe Well, I'm just trying to give you some guidance.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@MarkPaul I might??
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@JesusIsWithMe Well, I mean maybe you do and maybe you don't. I don't know for sure. I just have a hunch that you do.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@MarkPaul again, whatever your opinion is, that's respected.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@MarkPaul I do have a feeling that you're assuming, but again, I'll say this, your opinion is respected.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@JesusIsWithMe Well, I think by now we can agree that it's a bit more than just an opinion. No shade. I'm all about honesty.
JesusIsWithMe · 18-21, F
@MarkPaul it's how I usually encounter this situation in our culture, so that's why I said this, but I'm not gonna be against anyone here

@JesusIsWithMe Okay, well neither am I.
