You aren't ready

A society cannot simultaneously expect men to bear responsibility for protecting women, deny them meaningful authority in exercising that protective role, condemn them when they withdraw, and then blame them when the consequences of that withdrawal become apparent. If society wants men to resume the protective role, it must confront what that role actually entails.

Violence

Question: What are men supposed to be protecting women from?

If your answer is other men, the expectation is that men do not seek to harm women. This isn't an era where you need to fight off bears and wolves to protect your tribe.

Society doesn't want men to resume the protective role. Society wants men to stop making a protective role necessary.

That means an end to violence.

@ViciDraco The men aren't the same men, obviously. Evil men always existing does not equate to no man can be trusted. Equating those is yet another common problem, it screams of more demands for the perfect scenario. You don't trust yourself with violence, do you? What's going to happen when you open that door? Are you telling on yourself. Sheepifying doesn't suddenly make you safe to be around, teetering on the edge. This devotion to pacifism is really just a means for you to survive despite being a powder keg, isn't it?

@Jackaloftheazuresand Even if I were to be violent, a child could kick my ass because I'm wimpy as hell. I'm disabled in a way I can't even make a proper fist with either hand and I'm wheelchair bound. But no, I don't have anger issues so I'm not worried about being a powder keg even if I was strong. So whatever you are trying to project isn't landing.

There will be some people entrusted with the power of violence. Military, police. That's not something I'm going to argue against. But those people can also be man or woman. There's nothing uniquely masculine about violence. Violence is, at the end of the day, a sign of weakness. And the belief that we need normal, everyday men exercising violence is rooted in paranoia and fear of others. You don't need violence. You need to build communities and get to know your neighbors.

@ViciDraco Oh, has this disability been lifelong? It would certainly explain why you have no concept of its use if that were the case, having to spend your life subjected to the whims of others with no way to ensure your safety. You would've had to find other ways to get close to there.

You don't have to have anger issues to be power hungry and dangerous. If you have as much of an intellect as I believe you do then you know what I said isn't some "whatever" question since I said it quite plainly. You don't trust yourself.

As for the masculinity of violence. You are out of touch with humanity. I noticed it first when you talked about the expectation. That expectation is one you have, it is not representative. Not only are the actual expectations something else but also the reality is that women tend to not be able to fight off men unless they have some equalizing weapon. Then you just have the simple fact that women tend to vote for this disarming themselves because they find the threat of people being armed unconscionable. There ends up being no wiggle room for solutions.

We are all weak in our own ways and fear drives your entire existence. You wouldn't be alive if you weren't afraid to die. So tell me how do you intend to build a community with me or better yet, how are they going to stop me without violence?
