@Niloo My wife is from Northern Ireland. I was surprised when me moved there that most things like shops, swimming pools, museums etc, didn't open till after lunch on a Sunday. I think it was church influence.

@Fluffybull There's a lot of shared heritage.

I read that Christmas day was a normal working day in Scotland, up till maybe 1950s.

In all honesty, I think it makes for a much more laidback life

@SW-User Later than the 1950s depending which church you belonged to. My mother was a member of the Free Church and while she was still able to go to church (about 2006) there were still no Xmas carols or any acknowledgement of Xmas.
