Man Arrested Twice Within Hours

A 70-year-old man was arrested twice in less than three hours Saturday after violating New Jersey’s emergency orders during the coronavirus pandemic and making threats.

Upon entering a Wawa(*) and being told he needed a face covering, he started screaming and cursing at employees before threatening to hit another customer with a pipe. He screamed at the responding officers and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.

After being booked and released, he went to another Wawa and again entered without a mask. He then punched a customer in the face and went to his car to get a pipe; which he began waving around.

He was charged with two counts apiece of violating emergency orders, disorderly conduct and failure to submit to fingerprinting. He was also charged with resisting arrests, making terroristic threats during an emergency and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

He remained held at the Ocean County jail as of Tuesday morning.

*For those unfamiliar with Wawa, it is a convenience store.
