I Am Fascinated By Human Behavior

Why is it women don't stand up for themselves when they have to do all the work in their marriage? Men generally expect women to handle everything housework, kids, all the trivial details of life while they get to take it easy. Women have to handle both her business and his. I think men expect this at least partly because women let them get away with it. I realize this is far from true of all men and is not nearly as true as it used to be, but generally I hear a lot of women complain about how they have to do everything while their husband does almost nothing.

It isn't as bad as it use to be. Go back and watch the 60s tv shows. Even in the cartoons, look at Flintstones. Man work, woman stay home, clean, cook, have babies. Now things are changing, not equal yet but things are changing. We have changed from the view of Leave it to Beever and Father knows best.

A whole lot more men know how to cook now than they did in any other generation. Most men in my parent's generation can hardly boil water.

Alot more men share taking care of the baby and kids. I try to do the dishes, vacuuming, cleaning, and have learned to wash and fold clothe. I don't feel I have a right to go to work, come home, grab a beer and turn on the tv. I work for my own good, to keep myself strong and to keep out of a wheelchair. I still go home and cook my own dinnet, make our pot of coffee and help do the housework. I get upset when she tries to do it all. I didn't marry a maid, I married an equal partner

ldtimer: Good for you! I get aggravated with the ones who seem to want to marry a maid, and the women who who won't speak up at all.

My dad was one of those guys that came home from work and myom had dinner ready at a certain time every night
She did the cleaning, cooking, laundry, ran us all to school, everything. She was the maid , cook, chauffeur, all of it. My dad's job was beat us with a belt, especially when work was bad.
I can't stand seeing a woman treated as a slave to a man. I have more respect for a woman that that. Marriage is a 50/50 partnership.
