I Am Fascinated By Human Behavior

What do you think of the saying, "you raise a daughter, you spoil a son."? An article I came across recently stated this and it was written by a psychologist so wasn't just some random person. It confirms what I've long suspected and seen in my own life. I experienced it in my home and saw it in a lot of my friends' families as well. Boys are raised with a bigger sense of entitlement than girls typically are. Of course this is not always true. I've known plenty of girls who were spoiled rotten but in most cases they didn't have brothers. And no not all boys are spoiled or even treated well. It's just generally true and I've heard some men say they had it easier than their sisters did.

Total opposite experience for me. Sister was spoiled, and although I had my share it wasn't nearly as much especially because I grew up with "special needs."

@unitX Kids with special needs tend to be marginalized whether they're a girl or a boy. Parents tend to focus on the one they think has more going for them. Like I said it's not written in stone that parents always spoil a boy. My brother was one of those star children (had everything, grades, friends, no problems at all). So my mother especially thought he walked on water. Plus he knew how to manipulate and butter Mom up so he could get his way most of the time.
