Assisted dying in UK

One of the most ill thought out Bills going through Parliament at the moment.

Let’s us thank God for Archbishop elect Sarah, and previous Prime ministers David Cameron, Gordon Brown and Theresa May.

I stand agasp that George Carey should dare open his mouth, or Charlie Faulkner, or Esther Wilcox.

We don’t need a world where Harold Shipman or Lucy Letby reign.

I fear for people in care homes and the most vulnerable of society.

But a mass murderer in his right mind can terminate their life, and not suffer longer.

I didn’t see this. Does the UK bill legalize homicide ? That’s the only way that statement would be relevant. Even without the bill, there have been mass murderers.

@bijouxbroussard There are two cultural issues to consider, which are prominent in the UK at the moment.

Firstly, older people are considered a drain on the economy. And secondly the Health Service has inadequate funding for palliative care.

On a totally unrelated issues mothers are under pressure to have late abortions for children with cleft or Downs, by our National Health Service.. Again this saves money.
@peterlee Pressure by whom ? That’s what needs to be dealt with, without taking rights away from other women. Where women still have the right to choose here, late term abortions are only done when the fetus is no longer viable and the life of the woman is at risk. The anti-choice activists claim otherwise, but they are wrong; this restriction was legislated in 2003.

Likewise, even though some may consider the elderly “a drain on the economy” the assisted suicide bill should come with very strict guidelines, only available to those terminally ill, facing imminent death. The right shouldn’t be taken from other adults due to scaremongering of misuse.

@bijouxbroussard In the UK termination at any time if the mother’s life is at risk.

33 weeks, if there is fetus severe damage, assessed by two doctors.

Death rate of mothers post birth is under scrutiny at the moment. It has gone up in the last five years, alarmingly in the Afro population of the country.
@peterlee There is a high maternal mortality rate among black women here, too. And it’s not based upon income; it exists among middle and upper class black women as well. Systemic racial discrimination is an ingrained part of the healthcare industry here.
