do you think it's 'shameful' or 'embarrassing' to contact a befriending service

i got in touch with a mental health charity recently over my circumstances of having psychological problems, living alone and having no support network besides my elderly parents who live far away and they gave me the number of a befriending service a service that can assign people to go places with you, if you're alone like me.

but i have my pride and i thought would society see me as a charity case if i used a befriending service and would it be embarrassing for me?

Is there any law that says you have to tell the whole world that you're using the service? I don't think so. I say go ahead and take advantage of it!
