Unexpected Reward of Paying it Forward

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a homeless veteran who served 35 years with the US Marines. Over the course of a week I fed him whenever I saw him while he waited to get into an accommodation.

Today, after a while, I saw him again and he surprised me with an early birthday present. I turn 51 on the 1st of July. He caught me off guard. He also seemed to be settled, doing well and happy because thankfully for him, he received his pension. He'd also eaten which I was happy about.

This came as a total surprise because I only mentioned my birthday once when we discussed our ages. The act of kindness by him touched me and gave me a sense of appreciation for more than what was given to me.

Karma is real.

If he served 35 years in the USMC then he was either a flag officer or was granted an age waiver. Either way, he is well worth the time, patience, concern that you invested in him!

God bless both of you.

And the deepest of heartfelt “Thank you for your service!” to him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
