Life sometimes gives us hope...

Trump was found guilty... again. A fine of $83.3 million was levied.

Made my Friday and helped me start out Saturday with a smile.

Trump wins on appeal
Ontheroad · M
@HoraceGreenley Really? Twice convicted for the same crime... not in your wildest dreams does he walk away from this one. Chump trump is down for the count.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@HoraceGreenley what makes you think this is ok?
@Ontheroad He wasn't twice convicted of the same crime was he? Wasn't he convicted once. With the most recent trial being the penalty phase where the jury awarded damages for that conviction? Or am I incorrect? Don't we have laws against double jeopardy which would prevent being convicted twice for the same crime?
Ontheroad · M
@OldGrandDad He was convicted of sexual assualt of Carroll, and others. This conviction is for defamation and slander against Carroll because she testified against him in the sexual assualt case.
@Ontheroad Exactly. So he was not convicted twice for the same crime. In fact the judge in this case (same judge as the previous case) forbade him from offering an innocent defense for the sexual assault. That had already been adjudicated.
Ontheroad · M
@OldGrandDad Second conviction as a result of the first conviction... so yeah, technically not the second conviction or double jeopardy, but it all boils down to him being a POS.
@Ontheroad Wasn't debating that point.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Handfull1 he didn't rape her
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@HoraceGreenley only considered that in New York. Sexual assault there. He’s lucky. Just happened to pick the right State.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Handfull1
30 years later...but she's not politically motivated. Riiiiight.
Ontheroad · M
@HoraceGreenley Who cares if she was politically motivated? He is a rapist, he is convicted, he is a POS, end of the story.
@Handfull1 He couldn't be tried for rape in NY because the statute of limitations had passed. Could only be charged with Sexual Assault as NY added a one time change to the criminal code. As I understand it. I doubt many more feel he is any more innocent than OJ. But I would like to know facts of how many have been charged under these one time changes.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@OldGrandDad I somewhat got that but am not as eloquent as you. In reality, I’d like to know how many women he did this to. Or paid for abortions while he preaches against it.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Ontheroad You're not really thst dumb are you?
@Handfull1 Those also are valid questions. I am not here to defend Trump. But I don't want him to be singled out either. We can't change laws with the intent of using it against one man. And we can't have different enforcement of the DOJ based on political party or last name. I can't say it has. But it looks that way to me.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@OldGrandDad
The DoJ has been weaponized for political purposes. So has the FBI.
@Handfull1 from the apnews website ...
Trump was not criminally charged. The civil verdict, however, has led many to mistakenly believe he was convicted of sexually assaulting Carroll. Under state law, too much time had passed since the alleged assault in 1996 for a criminal case to be considered against Trump

The verdict was split: Jurors rejected Carroll’s claim that she was raped, finding Trump responsible for a lesser degree of sexual abuse.
@OldGrandDad if it has and that’s a big if, I’m guessing it happens all the time on both sides. People get off that shouldn’t, innocent get the book thrown at him. He has way too many charges against him to have every avenue coming at him wrongly. And he always gets off. What does that say? Corruption on the other end. We’d be in for life with half the charges.
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@OldGrandDad I had read that.
@Handfull1 We all make our own determinations. But I don't buy into it happens all the time from both sides so it's ok argument. And if a Republican takes office we will see retribution. And that is not right either. But precedent has been set. Wait and see!
Handfull1 · 61-69, F
@OldGrandDad I never said it was ok. What I think is ok on this planet and what happens daily is not the same. And not everything I feel in my gut is based on perceived facts as we know today. It’s served me well tho. I’ll leave it at that.
Ontheroad · M
@HoraceGreenley Dumb about what? Trump was charged, tried, and found guilty. Twice. End of story. That he is a POS is history and well-recorded. His own words, if nothing else, convicts him of being a POS.

Anyone who denies or disbelieves any of that is the one without the ability to think.
@HoraceGreenley Yeah.............he just keeps winning. ;-) ;-) ;-)
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@Ontheroad that the woman has no political motivation. As if the courts cant be swayed. OJ Simpson was acquitted of 2 murders.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
@MaBalzEsHari
Eventually he wins all the court cases and he'll be our next President
