I Lack Faith In Humanity

For some years now, I have been less and less interested in socialising more with people, as I've seen community, family and moral values depleted to virtually non-existent too often.

I really think the current Corona situation puts a spotlight on various factors, and although this is grim, I'm posting it anyway - as I did in response to a question just now, but I'm putting my own modified copy up on my profile too :(

Well given that antibiotics have been becoming less effective for some years now, possibly due to overuse and bacteria adapting to them, this kind of medical problem (although I know Covid-19 is a virus, not bacteria) has been looming for years. Same as environmental problems have been looming for years. I think what will eventually finish off us humans - and personally, I don't see more than a couple more generations of humanity left - is the immense selfishness and consequent ignorance of effects of anything except on oneself immediately. These attitudes won't sustain a society.

At the moment we have young folk blatantly and proudly flaunting guidelines for social distancing because they're not in the vulnerable group, oblivious to the risks this puts others into. Luckily these idiots are not running governments yet. When it comes to their time, if they haven't wised up... I say no chance. No chance at all. I can see their stupidity resulting in anarchy because just as they don't seem to have much respect for authority, I doubt they will raise offspring to have any either. With the majority of people lacking in basic decency, I'm glad by then I'm not likely to be around.

"If you have to be persuaded, reminded, pressured, lied to, incentivized, coerced, bullied, socially shamed, guilt-tripped, threatened, punished and criminalized … If all of this is considered necessary to gain your compliance — you can be absolutely certain that what is being promoted is not in your best interest.” -Ian Watson-

"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive." -C.S. Lewis-

You lack faith in yourself. Humanity is evolving as always. It's up to you to learn to adapt to your environment. Be the change you want to be in this society. It can better if you try. 🙂
I can see why your family would shun you. You're insufferable.

I don't see how any educated person could see anything but a terrible future for humans with the path they are on.
It's depressing as hell that I can't relate to anyone anymore. I find everyone just so incredibly disgusting.

You mentioned antibiotic resistence. Another thing I just learned from a top vaccine maker CEO the other day is vaccine resistence. Even if you don't count all the risks and problems with vaccines, you can form vaccine resistence to the adjuvants which is why they are constantly changing them up (which I'm pretty sure is resposible for a lot of allergies and immuno problems). This is one reason you can never have a covid vaccine. It's like having to get the flu shot every year. You would have to take a vaccine to each mutation of covid and continually take more vaccines. It's really not the long term solution.
And since people are so fking stupid to not use common sense and good hygiene, the only way out right now is millions of deaths until it works it's way through the system. Eventually covid will fade away but people are making it much much much worse than it should be because they are so selfish greedy, stupid and a dozen other terms as you were alluding to.

I worry about how society is heading. My small grandson is going to grow up in a world that is unsafe, ungovernable and unforgiving.

I was reading this morning about how a factory supervisor was hacked to death by two teenagers who tried to decapitae him with a samurai sword, and his wife when confronted with the killers in court, who were 18 and 16 years old, questioned, "How on earth have we come to this?"

Whatever held society together these past decades has began to unwind due to greed, ignorance, selfishness and violence. I believe society is hanging on a cliff edge, we know what needs to be done. Emissions can be reduced, inequalities levelled, environmenal degradation reversed and economies diversified. But as human beings, as in these youths who care nothing for the preciousness of life, show what the future holds.

@RainontheMoon I believe in personal integrity, faithful relationships and families as the unit of community and society. Such values have been torn to shreds as outdated since the sixties, seems to me.I agree with you. I doubt humanity will see through more than a couple more generations if that, the way things are going. I believe I posted as such some months ago...

The medical field is showing that young people can die from the corona virus too! 😯 Yes, 😔 morals, integrity, and respect for other peoples differences is disappearing. Maybe that's why this is happening, it's a time for reflection about what's really important to some of us.💕💙 I don't mind not being around lots of people at all. 🙂

You're in luck. Completely setting aside and forgetting the current health crisis, the internet makes it absolutely possible not to socialize with others.

For today's movie suggestion, I offer. "The Net" with Sandra Bullock
