Quite right too. Giving equal weight to the views of a murderer or a rapist about those subjects, or equal weight to someone who thinks the earth is flat is patently foolish.

@RogueLoner I am fascinated by the reasons people give for why they do awful things and very happy to listen to them. What I don't do is give 'equal weight' to all views when they come from places of ignorance or obvious self-interest. I think the news anchor was saying that not everything is binary and of equal value in understanding what is going on.

There are legitimate opinions on things which are based on facts and reason and there are some emotional outbursts which it perfectly alright to express, but have little merit in helping people understand the world. Just because a lot of people believe something doesn't mean it's helpful to report when there's no basis in reality.
