Why do people say us Texans have a accent?

So the other day I went shopping and the guy working at the cash register said your Texas accent is cute? I laughed and said what accent? He was from Detroit. Anyways when I talk to my husband or other people I don't hear anything. Has anyone else come to Texas and think the same thing about us?

@DidIHurtYourFeelings: I was told I had an accent by an English or French person before. (I can't remember which) I couldn't believe that thought people from the state I lived in had accents, let alone the country. But like I said each state is a bit different than the next.
