Still not acceptable. Pain is never an excuse to cause other people pain.

But that's the thing; with terminal diseases, the most likely outcome is death (hence them being considered terminal). Suicide in that situation would be simply dying on your own terms, instead of slowly succumbing to the disease. There will be pain either way.

@KiwiDan: Yes but if you choose to do it yourself you're basically saying "fuck off" to your family. They will carry that guilt even though it isn't theirs to carry.

@RCGPruett: That's why you discuss it with them first. It would be stupid not to tell them at the very least, so that way they can say their goodbyes.
