When you win the Lottery what would you do?

We hear a lot about philanthropy these days. Though me thinks there could be more.At last count there were 1810 billionaires in the world with a net worth of 6.5 Trillion dollars. Surely that amount of money tied up in so few is unethical. Yes, maybe they are philanthropic but they still have more money than they need.
Back to my question.
If it was a super draw, ie, 40 million, ( Maximum ever offered so far in Australia is 60 million ) I obviously would set myself up for life, ie, own home and enough to survive till I died. If that be 10 million then that what it be. With the residual I would help my 2 closest friends by paying their mortgages off and any outstanding bills.
Replace their 15 year old car, etc. and I would deposit enough money into an account for them which would be solely for paying utility bills via direct debit for the next 10 years.
That would still leave me ? 25 million?
The mind boggles as to what could be done with this amount of cash. I like the concept of Beyond Shelter. Maybe I could set up a chapter here in WA.
We did try that 10 years ago but the Government would have nothing to do with it.
We got as far as actually having the Gov Minister responsible for the welfare of society to attend a private dinner with us. We were seeking funding. At the end of the evening when we were seeking an answer her response was,
" The poor only have themselves to blame "

Actually looked the count up a few days ago and it was over 2,000 billionaires in the world. I guess it's not a for certain number depending on who or where it's asked.

That 25 million can be put in a trust and used at any certain point though. Extending long after your and yours are long gone with stipulations on who can get some of that and at what point withdrawals can be made.

It's a legal point though so you most definitely would have to consult some legal experts especially those that are familiar with international laws.

You might not want to setup such a trust in your country. I certainly wouldn't here in the USA. Taxes alone would take any kind of profit such a trust had made.

@DeWayfarer I think I would keep $10 Million for myself and have built low cost housing for those with nowhere to live
Priority given to single Mothers with children who have been evicted by greedy landlords.

Sounds like a good idea. I have no idea what property taxes are like there nor how they are collected. Yet you might want to look in the tax situation.

Here if you own the property you are responsible for the taxes. And that's yearly and not cheap.

If you basically sell it to them say for a dollar which is legal here, they are responsible for the taxes. Now if these are homeless likely they are jobless as well.

So how can they pay the property taxes, if any?

Then there's utilities which is a different story.

Just something to think about.
