That's why I get annoyed at people who think their pets respond because they know their name. You could call your cat "little turd ball" and it will still respond

@DrSunnyTheSkeptic I dunno about that. I have two dogs and when I call their names to give treats. They wont touch the treat unless its their name called.

@DrSunnyTheSkeptic My dog definitely picks his name out of normal conversations when we are not even speaking to him.
