That depends my wife is working on hers technically you have to have a 2-year green card and then if you're married to an American you can apply after you have been in the country 3 years from when you received your green card 5 years if you're not married to a US citizen so the simple question would be 3 or 5 years as long as you follow all the paperwork procedures on time and there are no delays which there's always delays
