So... yeah

I happened to tell my sister that I got a message from a client I worked with almost a year ago, saying he was grateful for my services and would like to stay in touch. Since he is from my community and all that, sis teasingly said, "oooh looks like the coast is clear for something more." I was serious and I told her, "Nah, I'm not interested. I have my eyes on someone else right now." And she rolls her eyes and says, "Gosh, are you kidding me?"
I told her about the boy I like many months ago. Even then, she just laughed it off. And when she saw I was genuinely hurt, we had a mutual agreement not to mention it.
But I don't like it when they pretend my feelings don't exist or they make light of it... or they kinda give off the vibes that nothing's going to come out of it.

Talk to her and don't focus on the specific example but the overarching behaviour. The small example can come off as unimportant and can cloud the bigger message.

The issue shouldn't be the main part of your story, the conflict is so minor. the reason you were hurt or got upset is because it's part of a larger pattern. Address the pattern, not the minor insult otherwise they won't understand your point and will brush it off. .

@Elegy yeah, you are right. I see the reality. Maybe I get a bit too worked up because I have other insecurities... maybe the issue is with me which I have to work on :)

@Heretodaygonetomorrow I'm not minimising your issue, I'm just suggesting you adjust the focus. 😉

Have you told her that?
Heretodaygonetomorrow · 26-30, F
@LyricalOne yes, many months ago when I brought up the topic, I did.

@Heretodaygonetomorrow Sounds like another conversation is in order. Obviously she didn’t get the message.

@LyricalOne I think it's more like she's living in denial, or she wants to wish the reality away... or she hopes the feelings will fade soon... one of the cons of being the youngest in the family is everyone still looks at you like a kid and ... okay I'm overthinking I guess. I love her and I know she loves me.

@TacoCat Nah, too old for that.

I have feelings that can be hurt.

@sspec Perhaps you are right... one of the main reasons I write all this down is for me to go through this years later and see how it all panned out. Not that I'm saying she's a bad person. Not at all. Sometimes she stifles me with her love and protectiveness, but that's how she has always been :)
