Am I normal?

My money was stolen by a hospital cleaner on Sunday. The theif was identified by cctv footage. Howeverwhen they went to his house he had done a runner and his family seemed really distraught with the police turning up on their door.

The hospital today reimbursed me my money saying they will recover from his parents. I felt this sharp pang of pain in my heart thinking what the family must be going through because of his wrong doing. Apparently his mum was crying loads.
I've come home with a very heavy heart thinking I shouldn't have taken my money back.

Is this normal. I feel terrible😢

You're very nice. 🤗 But stealing is still stealing and you had every right to take back what was stolen from you. That's unfortunate for the family if they've fallen on hard times but that is never any excuse to steal from people. It's okay to feel sorry for them but you shouldn't feel bad for getting your money back. You need to provide for yourself too.
