Whenever someone says to you "I accept people for who they really are"

do you think to yourself "you wouldn't be saying that if you knew the real me" ?

I don’t really apply it to me. Most of us don’t know who people really are and are seldom given a chance to accept them as such. We may like to think we would if we could, but there are levels to acceptance and we’d still most likely hurt half of those we felt we “accepted.” So I take it as one of those things people say that just sort of float around out there not really meaning anything. 🤷‍♀️
