Is faking it till you make it a form of lying?

I see this a lot in my job faking it isn't being truthful unfortunately people use this as a tool to survive in other words they are doing something wrong for the right reasons an example would something like a mother that steals food to feed her children its wrong but she is trying to survive feeding her children that would my outlook on "faking it to make it"!
