Lies need support. The truth doesn’t.

So if you want to see how much someone believes in the things they say, look at how much they defend and fight for it. If they must protect it, it’s a weak lie that has to be maintained by them. If they don’t care and about disagreement or any sort of oppositional viewpoint, it’s because it’s their own personal truth that doesn’t require any effort on their part to be strong, it’s self sustaining. It’s an absolute value to them, so it doesn’t matter what the world thinks of it.

I disagree. It's often only when a central argument has flanking evidentiary support that an upset occurs and truth is established.

@AnnaBunny I could say the same thing.

@Reject Don't become a judge

@AnnaBunny Why would it matter to you if I was?

Oh so wise and I concur.
I always think the louder the proclamations (trying to prove) the more false.

@Magenta That’s true! Every lie always has countless excuses or reasons to exist. The truth doesn’t need a single one. It just is no matter how you feel about it.

@Reject Mhm, it exists on it's own merit.
Reject · 26-30, M
@Magenta Which means the closer someone is to the truth, the more they can do the same.

I always know when my kids are lying because they over explain.
Reject · 26-30, M
@Kuronekko Exactly. It extends to so much else too. For example if you’re blocked by someone because you didn’t agree on something, that’s a length they had to take to protect themselves. That tells you they don’t fully believe in their side of it.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
this is a lie
Reject · 26-30, M
@Jackaloftheazuresand To many, it would be.
Disappointing @Reject

@ThreeLittleBirds People can be. I try to not expect too much from them.

@jshm2 A courtroom is a place to address crimes. Not one to determine if someone believes what they say or not. That doesn’t matter.
@Reject I've served on a jury in a major criminal case. The judge explained to us that it was part of our job, as jurors, to assess whether or not we found witnesses to be credible.

If we jurors thought a witness was deliberately lying (and we did in one instance) we said so in the jury room. We were, in fact, determining if someone believed what they said or not.

@ElwoodBlues Funny how in that context, we’re talking about people’s views. Thank you for addressing my post as that’s what I’m talking about.
Seems you've never heard of this thing called SCIENCE, which ALWAYS requires evidence!!

Like it’s clearly evident he had good teeth 😁@ElwoodBlues

@ElwoodBlues So, where did you convince yourself I was talking about evidence?
@Reject In the threads I see around here, often the way people "defend and fight for" their point of view is by presenting evidence.

For example, was Covid a "plandemic"? is anthropogenic climate change real or a hoax? Are there more than two sexes? When I see these debates, I see the points of view "defended and fought for" via evidence. Evidence is how I "defend and fight for" my perspective.
