I Think It's Time To Change Our Political Conversation

I am not highly educated in political science, nor do I claim to be, and I'm well aware that this is a terribly naïve and Pollyanna-ish notion but...

What if people were less interested in defending their die-hard political beliefs and more interested in reaching compromises? Wouldn't it be better if each side could achieve SOME of their goals while making concessions in the interest of just getting things done, instead of being locked in constant back-and-forth battles and stalemates?

I know, I know, this is VERY simplistic of me, and nowhere near realistic. But, I do promise that if a candidate every comes forward to represent the "Conservaliberal: Let's Meet in the Middle!" party with a campaign slogan of, "Let's all play nicely in the sandbox together!", they DEFINITELY have my vote.

Ok, that's my piece. Thanks. :)

Okay, let’s take climate change for example. How can there be compromise between one side that believes that pollution is destroying the world and another side that believes climate change is just a hoax?

Or abortion. How can you find a compromise between one side that believes a woman’s got a right to make informed decisions about her own body and the other side that believes that abortion is murder?

When you have politics based on principles like today, there’s really not much incentive for either side to compromise.
