Compliment Sandwich

What is a compliment someone could give you that would immediately get your attention?

I am not someone that handles them well, and worse I have the skin complexation that can turn different shades of tomato.

They think I have a good personality

What’s one of yours?
@RebelRaven i don't want to be vain but if someone chooses me i feel complimented if someone wants me around or a desire
RebelRaven · 51-55, F
@DeadOrbit being chosen is a great compliment.
@RebelRaven it is im a simple man i really dont need much.
emyphant · 26-30, FNew
I like to give my daughter an enormous sandwich and she takes it as a compliment
@emyphant sounds like she gets on just fine then!
GoFish · 41-45, F
I accept all appropriate and true compliments
@GoFish But that isn't the question. 🫪
GoFish · 41-45, F
@DeadOrbit oh 😳 idk i have to go back to sleep 😳
@GoFish yes i think that is wise. 🫪
I'm with you on the skin complexation (how many words is that?) Beetroot is my go to colour when embarrassed.
I used to get compliments on my legs and butt.
When I was young and beautiful.
To be honest, any compliment would be gratefully accepted. It's been a while.
That said, I'd almost certainly come up with a counter argument.
@Mindfulness i just say "no u"
WanderingHelplessly · 51-55, MNew
You're weird. I like that.
@WanderingHelplessly i am very weird
WanderingHelplessly · 51-55, MNew
@DeadOrbit and I like that about you.
@WanderingHelplessly i appreciate it. You'll see me around a bit.

Historically, I've never been very good with compliments, though it's one of the areas I've been trying to work on.
Though honestly, it's hard to accept the kindness of others when you struggle to find ways to give that kindness to yourself.

I suppose if I had to try and answer, I might like a compliment about my mind the most, or my eyes. Most times I seem to think good things about those two things...
HikingMan · 56-60, M
@DeadOrbit Historically, I'd say something self-deprecating in a humorous kind of way.
These days, I say, "Thank you" and try to find ways to believe that they really believe what they're saying and not just saying it to be nice.
@HikingMan why do you need to find ways to believe it? Your self worth doesnt come from anyone else. Your self worth is written in stone already because you are another living creature on this earth and thats amazing.

@DeadOrbit 🤔 🫤 😐
PatientlyWaiting25 · 46-50, F
Usually people say I have nice hair but I'd prefer if someone complimented my personality.
@PatientlyWaiting25 I love your curly, ginger personality.
HikingMan · 56-60, M
@PatientlyWaiting25 Wait..., you're a redhead ?
Sweet, smart, funny, kind, and red hair..?

OMG !!!

Something that expresses appreciation for my personality or something I've done or just for being there. "A "I'm glad you're here" grabs my attention better then a compliment about how I look
shakemeup · 36-40
@DeadOrbit you said you don't handle compliments well? What kind of compliment would you prefer to get?
@shakemeup i have no idea what to do or say when someone gives me one. I think if i get one i prefer more who its from than what it is
shakemeup · 36-40
@DeadOrbit I can understand that.
Magenta · F
When they comment on my qualities. And things like this:
Your mind draws my attention and I can't let it go at times. How closely I associate the word delicious, and its synonyms with you.

Do you see compliments as kindness? Isn't it just someone's opinion and perception? Which can be oh so lovely.
@Magenta sometimes some people have lived in a world that abuse is more comfortable than kindness.
Magenta · F
@DeadOrbit Wow that's so sad.

But flattery and compliments isn't what true kindness is to me. Although of course , they can be nice to hear.
@Magenta they can be nice but it can also uncomfortable for some people who haven't learned to love themselves.
Nightwings · F
Not sure really, but it has got to be a quality that I care about, or that I'm proud of myself.
@Nightwings what are you proudest of?
Blondily · F
Ive been told Im pretty or look nice. So that is nice to hear. Makes you feel good after eating right and exercising that someone noticed. Especially my daughter. She never gives me compliments lol
@Blondily if you put in the work they will notice, good job!
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
Honestly, any form of a compliment from a reputable source. I never received them until my 20s, so they’ve always felt foreign to me in such a way that I can’t help but smile, blush, and shake my head as I look down at the floor.
@PerfectionOfTheHeart what happened before your 20s?
It'd be nice to hear a compliment like someone actually paid attention to me. I'm just tired of being called interesting lol its another way of calling me weird and I get it.
@EldritchFox being called weird is a great compliment. A normie has never made me smile before.
