I Want To Talk About Community

Unfortunately for many it’s not really about the debate but rather having an outlet where they can anonymously vent the anger, frustration and despair they’re experiencing in their lives. Many of them have actual mental health issues.

Which is why the request for civility is not likely to be granted.

There are some who can agree to disagree. Just not very many this last decade.

Some are unfortunately here to only disrupt a topic, that they just don't want being discussed. They believe only their opinions are valid. So they use disruption.

Funny that they rarely ever comment or reply to the original poster. That's a dead give away of a troll. They don't want to be blocked or have their non sense deleted.

This tactic has only gotten worse ever since Trump started running for office before 2016.

Their tactic is to use constant attacks to wear those giving facts down. It's easy to insult. It's easier to put up memes that attack.

Putting out facts takes time and often research.

To whole Internet format of short posts, comments and replies is to blame for this attitude unfortunately.

Lengthy posts actually are discouraged. Sometimes I my put "tl;dr" on the posts titles. Yet that no longer does any good. So I must moderate my own posts.

It used to be grumpy old farts who had no one else alive that they could shout at.

But its also a thing of gen z, and some millennials - this aggresive, no compromise, no theorizing or contemplation....all my way or the highway.

And if by chance you do out reason them, or have rock hard proof - they disappear into the ether.
No aknowledment.

No wonder humanity is shrinking in on itself.

People are losing not only their ability of the art of conversation, but also any sense of reality .

Its like they are retreating back to Platos cave
