When Did This Thing Called "Ghosting" Become A Thing?

Whatever happened to telling the person concerned I've had enough, see ya I'm off!
I'm hearing it mentioned more and more.

People are cowards and just find is easier to ghost with no explanation. Telling someone you’re done with them is confrontation so just blocking them is easy.
