I didn't read many books as a child but The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and as I got a little older Empty World by John Christopher were two that really stuck in my mind.

@AdaXI I loved reading the Iron Man at school.

Z for Zachariah by Robert C. O'Brien, another book I nearly forgot about. I seemed to have a thing for all the post apocalyptic stuff as I got high school, lolz.

@SW-User But yeah The Ironman has a very British feel too it. Similar to something Roaid Dahl might of wrote in the fairy tale type of world it's set in but a touch darker in it's undertones of war, prejudice, redemption, friendship.

@SunshineGirl Yeah seemed to vaguely remember it might of even been a book we studied at school. Like either took in turns to read aloud in class or took a copy home to read and then wrote about I honestly can't remember. It could just be my mind playing tricks on me.
