When I went to high school, I took AP calculus and AP physics, and I did well enough that I placed out of two semesters of each in college. I don't think many parents are prepared to teach these subjects. Are you??
Plot twist: some of my socialization was doing homework together with my friends; giving each other hints on how to approach the hard problems. Sometimes the only hint was "there's an easy way to solve that if you look for it!"

@ElwoodBlues absolutely actually their father is a teacher. I also intect to use online resources like pen foster and miacadamy to work on anything beyond my scope. These programs and many others were designed by teachers to teach these topics. My children will also be building a car with their father and a tiny home so they have access to the knowledge to jump into any trade they'd like. Along with the agricultural education they gain living on the farm.

@chickiegirl95 Very few kids have the resource of a professional teacher at home!

@ElwoodBlues they have the resources some parents don't use them. Pen foster is AMAZING self passed and you can start it as early as middle school for one or all classes.

@chickiegirl95 Topics such as science and math need problem solving in the form of homework as part of the teaching process. And homework needs to be marked and specific misunderstandings identified quickly.
To correct the homework, you need to understand the topic, and not many people can do this for physics and math, especially at the AP level.

@ElwoodBlues that's why more people need to utilize the online programs available.

@chickiegirl95 Some online programs are great, but they can't mark individual homework problems and correct specific misunderstandings.
In college I took differential equations in a giant lecture hall with hundreds of kids. The lectures were great, but more important were the problem sessions with a dozen or so kids each. We could ask the instructor (who was not the lecturer) specific questions about specific problems. It's best to nip misunderstandings in the bud and that often can't be done by a distant lecturer.

@ElwoodBlues I feel that there are tutoring sessions you can use for one on one too. Where things are graded by the tutor
