So what is the purpose of coming in?

You show up and ask for help but then decline all the tests we order to figure out what is going on......make it make sense!

I think some times people do want help, but in times, especially if it's an elderly or someone who has responsibility or someone who don't want to be a burden or even someone who is just scared, they don't want to know what is wrong and are easily overwhelmed. Because it might mean many things. Like them needing more and feeling they might burden another, or them having no means to solve things even if they do discover the problem. Like finding out might take more time when they think there are more important things, things they find more important than their own health maybe. Most of the times, that is being needed by someone else. If you look at it that way, it can get sad. But that is human.

So I'd recommend kindness. I understand we don't always have patience to give. In my case, I am not in the health department, but when faced with someone elderly in real life, I imagine what if it's my most precious person. I would want someone to help them out. So I try to do the same, if I can.

I have been ordered to have a CT lung scan because I had bronchitis. I dont want the IV contrast. Sounds a bit over the top for me.

My daughter works part time in a doctor's office. Sometimes she is so drained by the stubbornness (and bitterness) of folks who have spent a lifetime not taking care of themselves.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@ineedadrink Sad part of reality to be honest.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
Were you offering colonoscopy or what? 😅 That's what I'd decline as well.
1490wayb · 56-60, M
@Silentpleasure i have little faith in healthcare. none of the doctors i saw recognized my muscle spasms, nor my mothers late stage pancreatic cancer.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@1490wayb Not everything can be sovled and just like a mechanic or plumber......there are so many different skills and quality of work you can experience in all fields. I'm sorry they didn't catch her cancer or figure out your muscle spasms but we do what we can.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Silentpleasure I heard about this happening even here where all these tests are covered by the insurance. Patient doesn't pay anything. I often wish I could ask for some specific blood test but it's likely the doctor will decline due to the rules of the insurance company. I'm usually successful with the iron levels though.
The side quest we didn’t sign up for. You’re just trying to do your job and they make it impossible sometimes.
@Silentpleasure
NPCs with the " know my body better than you" script 😩
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@mindstruggle There is truth to that though. Your paitent does know there body better than you do and I listen to those that claim something is wrong. Problem is when they don't let me do things to try and figure it out lol
@Silentpleasure
Ofc!!! I’m all for body awareness, just not when it turns into a diagnostic guessing game.

Send them packing. They`re wasting time you could be with someone who needs and wants help.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Sad to say we can't. We have to attempt to get them to understand and waste more time.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@Silentpleasure Tell them and let them wait.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@Degbeme Takes up a bed we could use with people waiting outside. Either convince them and waste time or let them wait and cause someone else to wait which is just as bad :(
DDonde · 31-35, M
Maybe they didn't want to do it but somebody asked them to go in. So they can say they went in.
Guessing their insurance covers their copay?
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@DDonde Then do some urgent care and get out of my ER lol
Pretzel · 70-79, M
I just want you to tell me by looking at me!
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@Pretzel I feel that is what they think honestly lol
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
Maybe they were afraid of the test or really finding out the true issue.
Silentpleasure · 31-35, F
@JackDaniels I can understand that but come in when you are ready to get checked.
JackDaniels · 46-50, M
@Silentpleasure Agree. Sure you have lots other people to see and kind of wasting your time.
