Eastern Star (OES)

I have a family member who recently joined the Eastern Star. They are saying that their purpose is charitable and educational. They already are in a fraternity and now this has been introduced. What are your thoughts of this organization?

My mother belonged to Eastern Star. It was the women's side of the Masons. I don't know what they did.
