Viola Liuzzo (April 11, 1925- March 25, 1965)

Amazing that she would be 99 years old now. A homemaker from Detroit, she was watching the southern marches and protests on tv and decided to get involved. The Klan murdered her while she was providing transportation to register black voters. She was 39 years old.

I wonder people how many people like her there are, people who risked their livelihoods and very lives by standing up for others...fighting against what they knew was wrong...that few will ever know about. People of all skin shades and religions.

I'd never heard of this woman who was murdered, who died so young for doing what she knew was right. I'm glad to know of her, and her name.
