Viola Liuzzo (April 11, 1925- March 25, 1965)

Amazing that she would be 99 years old now. A housewife from Detroit, she was watching the southern marches and protests on tv and decided to get involved. The Klan murdered her while she was providing transportation to register black voters. She was 39 years old.

I remember her name very well..That event - as well as the marches and voter registration campaigns of the time - received considerable coverage here in Australia back then.
