That kid didn't deserve it.
Shooter is only released as they considered it as self defense. There could be charges later after more investigations.

@SW-User He was just charged a few minutes ago with two felonies. The press conference is still ongoing.

@SW-User I agree except he probably did deserve it

SW-User
@Katie01 in what possible universe does ringing a doorbell and waiting on the doorstep mean you deserve to be shot?
Katie01 · F
@SW-User he could've been threatening them and being abusive. It's reasonable to be scared and try to defend yourself

SW-User
@Katie01 But he wasn't. There is no evidence whatsoever to back that up from any source. Not even the shooter himself.
Katie01 · F
@SW-User the shooter couldn't have known either way. They just saw a potential attacker trying to get into their home and defended themselves for it

@Gloomy The key seems to be whether they were "scared" or not. If a petrified white guy who heavily arms himself is scared enough, he can fire away at will and Stand His Ground. In Florida, you can even blow someone away who is running away from you and de-escalating the situation.

@Katie01 If this is how it works in the USA then it's probably high time for gun control. You don't get shot in the face for ringing someone's bell in civilized countries. If you feel threatened you can still use pepper spray or paralyzer at most.

@CrazyMusicLover I'm literally British 😂
