I lost my keys when I was twelve

I waited years for the day to arrive for me to get some house keys. My parents did not think I needed any since there would be someone in and I was never alone, my brothers would be with me. My younger brother got keys before me and I saw that as unfair. But my parents said I wasn't mature enough to have them and with my autism, they were right.

Eventually they relented and got me some. I felt so grown up. Apart from trying out my keys upon getting them, I never got to use them. My parents were right someone was always in, or I had someone with me with keys.

After about a month I lost them. I was deeply upset but more frightened of telling my parents. My parents were angry and told me that they were right and I wouldn't get keys again. I still don't have any.

I got each of my kids a key to the house and they each lost their key within a month. I ended up getting an electronic door lock with code. Best thing I ever did.

@Jenny1234 How do they unlock it? Pin number or something?

@Gumba1000 they just punch in a code

@Gumba1000 they are easy to use and not terribly expensive. I just have to change the battery regularly and I always keep a spare key hidden outside in case the battery dies.
