Maybe the news today is going to get people to vote more energetically.

If you don’t like the nonsense going on right now, vote - deny the people who did this any kind of real authority ever again. It’s down to you.

That isn't how the US works thankfully. Court Judges are appointed by presidents. And are in for life.

@ShadowWolf So for all that talk about being free, unelected officials make the law?
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean You are from the UK, you seem not to understand how things work here. What the decision did was allow the states the right to allow or deny abortions. Roe Vs Wade made it law of the land. It infringed on religious beliefs. The hysteria claiming this is a ban on abortion is false. It simply gives the people and the states a right to decide. The court does not make the law, it interprets it. This will allow ELECTED state officials to make law.

@ShadowWolf Yes I freely admit I don’t know how it works. I’m not one of these usual SWers who pretends to be an expert on the every possible topic.

You said presidents appointed judges, rather than the electorate which is why it’s not democratic.

Also if the government is supposed to be secular it wouldn’t be making policy based on the Bible.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean If you don't know how it works, don't make blanket statements. Especially if you don't even live here. Ignorance is the enemy of facts. We are a constitutional republic. NOT a democracy. A democracy would be mob rule. Thankfully we do not have that.

You seem to still not understand, the court did not make a policy, it interpreted a previous ruling and deemed it unconstitutional. The court does not make laws, or policy. Cases are brought before it, and they are ruled on based on the constitutionality. The president is elected by the people... to a degree, therefore the justices usually fall in line with that. The American people voted for Trump, a conservative. Therefore the court is conservative. He just was able to replace many judges in a short time. Biden does not have that opportunity, because most the old justices are gone and replaced.

The states are now free to make their own policy on abortion. Some will outlaw it, some will expand it. The people in those states can now determine if they believe in abortion or not. That's a win for freedom in my book.

@ShadowWolf This is an open forum, and it’s my post. I can say what I wish and you’re just going to have to be a big boy about it.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean I am, and I can call you out for your lack of knowledge on a system you know jack squat about. As illustrated, and admitted to by you yourself. We broke away from you guys so we didn't have to be told what to do ;)
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf Sure. I don’t know much about foreign politics. It’s fine with me.

There are others who have appreciated my post. You’re just one person 🙂
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean Thanks for admitting that because it is readily apparent. I however am American and have extensively studied the system and am well informed. I can see you had no counter-arguement for all the facts I threw your way. Good that you know when you are outclassed in a debate when the other person has the facts and knowledge.
For the record, BlueVeins is a liberal. He appreciates your post because it agrees with your own stance.

@ShadowWolf This is ego masterbation for you isn’t it. It’s really important to you to appear knowledgeable.

US politics. UAE politics. Neither are interesting or important to me. What a funny little man you are.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean I am knowledgeable in the subject matter. You are just some little whiny activist from the UK. A country that is much weaker than it was a century ago due to leftist policies. Does that make you feel special? IF US politics don't concern you, go away and leave us alone. Just like we told you Brits to do in 1776,
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf Haha, calm yourself. I’m no activist, I’ve just told people to vote how they want their country to be, that’s all. And you got into a fluster.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean And i told you that's not how it works here. Rightly proving your lack of knowledge on the subject matter ;)
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf Didn’t care. Still don’t 🙂
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf That meme has no effect on me, and probably most other Brits. Unless your aristocracy the empire history stuff isn’t something to be proud of.🙂
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@ShadowWolf good point. this is about returning power to the states and states rights. when the USA was formed it was a lose conglomeration of states who wanted to retain their rights and this decision seems to me to be in the tradition of states rights. used to be about north vs. south. now it's about blue vs. red. women will still be able to get their procedure done if they want. Americans don't know their own history and are all about the knee jerk reaction.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
@CakeByTheOcean Britain was stronger as a nation then. More of a national pride thing than cheering the caste system. Moreso talking about how it was much stronger militarily, economically, industrially etc. You know how hard it is to find anything made in England nowdays? Very. You all used to make everything. So sad. Wheres the powerful British Navy that was the best in the world. Supplanted by the USA :)
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
Can't even sing "Oh Brittania" without realizing how far you've fallen (yes i Have some British family) on paternal side.
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf That of course isn’t true m, we just do more business with the EU and Middle East than we do with the US. The US still flies jets in its military they. An only build on licence from us.

But it’s no surprised to me someone like you holds “might is right” in high regard.

But yes, exactly!

@CakeByTheOcean
But it’s no surprised to me someone like you holds “might is right” in high regard.
Survival of the fittest. Strength should be admired. And aspired to.
CakeByTheOcean · 26-30, F
@ShadowWolf Hold on to that thought.
ShadowWolf · 31-35, M
