If the point of having a society *isn't* to care for each other, to ease suffering and realize each life's potential, literally what is the point?

We should be helping each other with needs and reducing suffering, but there are so many that will blindly steal from and abuse others. Can you help someone with their challenges if you know they’re stealing from you and dining nothing to help you?

You have a rosy view of human nature.

@Ferise1 You might want to follow the news. The stories of fraud surface every day. Just in the last weeks:

Two Boston men are accused of operating tiny, neighboring stores in the city which were reimbursed for SNAP benefits far beyond what would be reasonable for their size. The stores received SNAP reimbursements more typical of a large supermarket—with one of the shops once redeeming $500,000 in a single month, authorities say.

You say these guys who scammed $7M are rich Republicans?

You can examples everywhere. Google is your friend.

Facts.

The way we live now is not that much better than the way we would be living if we went full pre-history.

It would be as stressful and hard, just in different ways. More physical and emotional than mental and financial.

But it would be far more fair. At least everyone would have to play by the same rules. Nature doesnt pick favorites like economies and politics do.

That is the whole point. Unfortunately, civil society has many enemies and saboteurs.
