I've come to realise modern life is exhausting

It's like sensory assault everyday, ads, signs, constant notifications, work, emails, people, appointments, bills, insurance, what's going on in every corner of the world, every person's opinions and thoughts etc.

Your attention is divided amongst hundreds of things all which are using energy in the brain, and we can only do so much in a day. Many people internalise that exhaustion as there being a problem with them, but honestly I think it's a natural reaction to an unnatural way of living that creates burnout and causes people to seek SSRIs and diagnosis for ADHD and ADD.

I think the only way forward is to invest in technological regression in personal lives, dumb phones, iPods, and switch back to computers instead of having it in your pocket 24/7.
We would talk to eachother more, spend more time together, and have something to actually talk about because we didn't talk about everything to strangers online.

Boundaries with technology, news, and media are desperately needed as it's all consuming. Corporations want your time, Samsung wants to put ads on fucking fridges my dude 😒 it will be commonplace. Unplug and learn to paint, play music, or anything else. We create our own isolation by being part of the problem.

Spot on true. But humans will never put the genie back in the bottle, they will merely let out more.

Your post reminded me of this..
