When I meet someone in their teenage years or younger, I never stop seeing them as young and needing protection

Even after they reach their late twenties. It becomes an imprint in my mind. They are little and they need to be protected including from my own darkness.

Definitely.

If you meet someone who is 15, you see them much differently 10 years later than you do a person you meet who is already 25.

We need to make sure we don't use those biases to try to prevent them from living their lives. We also need to make sure that we take them seriously.

As an example, I was fairly sheltered growing up and there are some elders in my life that still see me that way and dismiss things I say out of hand because of it.

I try hard not to perpetuate that, but it can show up.

@ViciDraco

I am more likely to dismiss what older people think than younger ones.
I think I was in my early teens when we met but I wasn't active on EP until almost the time it closed. I was mid or late teens by then.

If only I could have exposed you to my annoying little ass earlier in life. Maybe it would have been good for me.
@Miram I don't remember much detail but I remember coming across you. What did we talk about?

@SinlessOnslaught I remember we talked about your pet
@Miram I never did have the best memory. It's nothing personal. I'm very glad you're in my life. 🤗

Was it when my dog passed away?
