Forgiveness

I saw somebody else post about forgiveness and wanted to share my comment with the rest of you.

“I would like to share with you two simple truths: there is nothing that cannot be forgiven, and there is no one un-deserving of forgiveness.”
― Desmond Tutu, The Book of Forgiving: The Fourfold Path for Healing Ourselves and Our World

Desmond Tutu was a great man and dedicated his life to social reform. This book is an amazing book and I recommend it to everybody.
I do not expect any of you to read anything based solely on my recommendation. Do research and then decide. This is worth your time.

Those aren't truths, they are opinions.

The need to assert that something works for everyone is egoistic and comes from the lack of conviction in aloneness.

@Miram the assertion that something never attempted will not work stems from that same attitude.

You make the mistake of believing it was never tried. You're only aware of your own experiences. And the writer is only channeling what he experienced himself and weaving conclusions that bring him comfort himself. He and others however do not need to tailor someone else's healing path.

I don't have to forgive everyone to live a fulfilling life. Much of what I am anyways unravels itself without the preaching.

@Miram Have you read the book that you can state what the writer experienced or is channeling? There is an old saying, "Don't knock it, until you try it" If you refuse to read the book and apply it's principles, is fine. If you live a happy, fulfilling life, good for you. There are a million self-help books out there. Do you think every one is egotistical? Can some other people, lesser than you, benefit from any of them?
